IPTA is looking for great talented people to support the work at the Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC). AvMC is the Army's focal point for providing research, development and engineering technology and services for aviation and missile platforms across the life cycle. AvMC's mission is to "deliver collaborative and innovative aviation and missile capabilities for responsive and cost-effective research, development, and life cycle engineering solutions" to equip the Warfighter with the best technology today and tomorrow.
The Deputy IT Engineering Lead serves as a key technical and operational partner to the Engineering Lead, supporting the planning, design, and delivery of enterprise IT solutions aligned with customer requirements and mission objectives. This role provides day-to-day leadership across a diverse engineering organization including architects, Windows and Linux system administrators, network engineers, and other technical teams. The Deputy Lead ensures technical alignment, execution discipline, and integration across engineering functions while driving innovation, modernization, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Engineering Lead to oversee and coordinate activities across multi-disciplinary IT engineering teams (architecture, Windows, Linux, network, and platform services), ensuring consistent execution and alignment to mission priorities.
  • Lead the development, integration, and delivery of IT solutions that meet customer requirements, technical standards, and mission needs, including cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.
  • Translate customer requirements and mission objectives into actionable engineering designs, roadmaps, and implementation plans, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and architects, promoting best practices in system design, automation, cybersecurity compliance, and DevSecOps principles.
  • Support workforce management activities including task prioritization, workload balancing, staff development, and cross-team collaboration to enhance overall engineering effectiveness.
  • Ensure engineering solutions adhere to enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and applicable regulatory frameworks (e.g., DoD, NIST, RMF).
  • Collaborate with program management, operations, and customer stakeholders to resolve technical challenges, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Monitor performance metrics, system health, and project execution to identify improvement opportunities and ensure reliable, efficient, and resilient IT services.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Great communication and organizational skills
  • Ten (10) years of prior experience in a similar role
  • DoD 8570 Level II/III certification desired
  • Active Security Clearance Required
