Paraprofessional - Developmental Learning Program (DLP)
QUALIFICATIONS: ย  ย Paraprofessional Approval by the Illinois State Board of Educationย 
JOB GOAL: ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  DLP Program is a highly individualized classroom designed to serve students that require intensive and/or alternate instruction based on their cognitive and developmental needs. ย A paraprofessional in this setting works with the classroom teacher to provide educational programming in a nurturing and child centered environment that best meets the students' needs. ย 
REPORTS TO: ย  ย  ย  ย  ย Principal/Assistant Principal ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย ย 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.ย ย ย ย Possesses knowledge of District policies and regulations relating to areas of responsibilities ย ย 
2.ย ย ย ย Maintains professional competence through participation in District provided in-service activities and/or self-selected professional growth activities related to job responsibilitiesย 
3.ย ย ย ย Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in school environment and community ย  ย 
4.ย ย ย ย Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staffย 
5.ย ย ย ย Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on the understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilitiesย 
6.ย ย ย ย Assists as directed by certified staff in the effort to successfully maintain students with special needs in an integrated setting, as determined by the grade level teamย 
7.ย ย ย ย Assists teachers in instructional activities that allow for differentiated learning opportunities ย  ย 
8.ย ย ย ย Advises the certified staff and/or administrator to any problem or special information about a student ย 
9.ย ย ย ย Develops positive working relationships with school personnel and parents ย ย 
10.ย ย ย ย Is capable of physically assisting students with special needs, including students using wheelchairs, of any grade level (Preschool - 8th grade) with personal needs and care including eating, dressing, positioning, bathing/cleansing, grooming, toileting, standing, bus loading, and lifting/carrying or supporting students who may weigh 60 or more poundsย 
11.ย ย ย ย Assists with the monitoring and supervising of students during non-instructional times/areas such as: classroom, hall, lunch, recess, bus, or as otherwise requestedย 
12.ย ย ย ย Promotes and models school behavior management programsย 
13.ย ย ย ย Assists and carries out other duties assigned by supervising teacher and/or by building administrator(s)
