Job description

Location: Charlottesville, VA or New York (preferred), or select US East Coast locations (GA, FL, NC)
Are you a product leader who thrives on turning market insight into meaningful learning experiences? Do you enjoy shaping strategy rather than simply executing someone else's roadmap? Can you connect customer needs, data, and business priorities to build products that make a real impact?
At CFA Institute, we are looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy and evolution of our Private Markets certificate learning products. This is a visible, market-facing role where you will help define what we build, why we build it, and how it delivers value to investment professionals globally.
Reporting to the Director, Product Management, this individual contributor role sits within the Education portfolio and works closely with product marketing, curriculum, exams, technology, business development, general management and senior stakeholders. Success in this role comes from market-informed product strategy, learning-product experience, and the ability to align cross-functional teams around clear product decisions.
What You'll Do
  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for Private Markets certificate learning products, ensuring alignment with market needs and organisational priorities.
  • Act as the voice of the customer through continuous market research, stakeholder engagement, business development input and industry insight.
  • Translate customer needs, market trends and product data into clear product vision, business cases, prioritised requirements and roadmap decisions.
  • Partner with curriculum, product marketing, technology, exams, support, business development and general management teams to deliver high-impact learning solutions.
  • Influence senior stakeholders through clear, data-informed storytelling and practical product recommendations.
  • Identify product opportunities and help drive innovation across the certificate learning portfolio.
  • Analyse product performance, customer behaviour and market evidence to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the product perspective in external or market-facing conversations where customer and industry insight can shape product direction.

What We're Looking For
  • Product management or product marketing experience with clear ownership of product strategy, roadmaps, requirements, business cases or product solutions.
  • Experience working with digital learning, EdTech, certification, professional education, assessment, content-led products or a comparable digital product environment.
  • Evidence of conducting customer or market discovery, such as interviews, voice-of-customer work, market analysis, product data review or business development insight gathering.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs, market trends and data into product vision, prioritised requirements, roadmap decisions or customer experience improvements.
  • Data fluency, including experience analysing product performance, customer behaviour, engagement, adoption, market or commercial data to inform recommendations.
  • Cross-functional product delivery experience with partners such as curriculum/content, product marketing, technology, exams, support, business development or senior leadership.
  • Confident communication and stakeholder influence, including presenting recommendations, trade-offs, business cases or product direction to senior audiences.
  • Comfort operating independently in ambiguity, with curiosity to learn specialist subject matter through market engagement and internal subject matter experts.

Nice to have
  • Exposure to financial services, investment management or Private Markets.
  • Familiarity with learning platforms, customer analytics tools, Jira, Microsoft tools or AI-enabled productivity tools.

Why Join Us
  • Shape the future of professional learning for investment professionals in a globally recognised organisation.
  • Play a key role in defining and evolving high-impact education products in a focused, growing portfolio.
  • Work in a collaborative, high-performing team with strong cross-functional exposure.
  • Gain visibility with senior leadership and influence strategic product decisions.
  • Contribute to mission-driven work focused on advancing the investment profession.
  • Build market-facing product strategy capability in an organisation with proven internal mobility.
