Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The purpose of this position is to tutor students, enhance their mathematics knowledge, and help them develop the skills necessary to succeed in a variety of math courses. Lab tutors will utilize a collaborative and interactive process to enable and encourage students to become a more effective and independent learner.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of at least 12 college credit hours.
At least a B average for all math courses.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong mathematical skills and logical reasoning.
Ability to effectively articulate mathematical concepts.
Capable of working with students from different cultural backgrounds, and various academic levels and needs.
Preferred Qualifications
S.T.E.M. concentrated degree plan.
Completion of Calculus I with high standing.
Prior tutoring experience.
Knowledge of learning management systems (preferably Canvas).
Proficient with a variety of calculators and math software such as MyMathLab.
