Job description

Senior Machine Design Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Machine Design Manager to lead the design and development of machinery from initial concept through completion. This role will oversee engineering projects, provide technical leadership, and work closely with production and manufacturing teams to ensure equipment meets the highest standards of efficiency, reliability, and performance.
The ideal candidate will have strong machine design experience, proven leadership abilities, and the ability to manage projects while providing hands-on technical guidance to the engineering team.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the machine design and engineering process from concept through completion.
  • Oversee the development of detailed mechanical designs using CAD software.
  • Provide technical direction and support to engineering and design team members.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and other technical documentation.
  • Perform and oversee engineering calculations and simulations to ensure structural integrity and equipment performance.
  • Specify motor horsepower, gearbox torque, bearings, shafts, and other mechanical components for various applications.
  • Collaborate with production, manufacturing, vendors, and suppliers to ensure successful implementation of equipment designs.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects, timelines, priorities, and deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machinery design, production efficiency, reliability, and overall performance.
  • Troubleshoot design and equipment issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned with company requirements.
  • Mentor and develop engineering team members while promoting strong engineering and safety practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in machine design and engineering, preferably in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD software, including Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD 2D.
  • Strong understanding of materials science, mechanics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience specifying and designing systems involving motors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and related mechanical components.
  • Familiarity with welding methods and manufacturing processes.
