We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Manager, Advisory Services, to strengthen our rapidly growing team. We're looking for someone with a consumer centric mindset, intellectual curiosity, and solid communication skills to partner with Digital Practice leaders, Product Owners, Project Managers and scrum teams. This role will be expected to thoughtfully apply AI-enabled tools and methods to accelerate design, research synthesis, prototyping, and delivery while maintaining high standards for quality, accessibility, privacy, and responsible use.

You will bring a mix of creative problem solving, intellectual curiosity, and solid communication and design skills. You will work with customers to identify their needs and develop solutions tailored to meet their requirements. You will also help teams understand how AI is changing the product and software delivery lifecycle, including opportunities to accelerate discovery, ideation, research analysis, content generation, prototyping, experimentation, and design documentation. You will also lead opportunities and develop proposals with leadership to ensure our customers find value in our Digital Transformation offerings. You will possess a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and experience in consumer centric innovation and digital transformation.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with product management, other designers, data and analytics and engineering in discovery or requirements gathering sessions
  • Participates in strategy & roadmap sessions
  • Identifies practical opportunities to incorporate AI into product discovery, design workflows, research synthesis, prototyping, and delivery practices to improve speed, quality, and team effectiveness
  • Build design artifacts based on analytics, user research and best practices
  • Uses AI-assisted tools to explore design directions, generate and evaluate alternatives, summarize research inputs, and accelerate early-stage artifacts while applying human judgment, design craft, and validation before recommendations are finalized
  • Ability to ideate & provide multiple solutions
  • Regularly shares work and accepts design feedback, refining designs based on feedback received
  • Participates in design reviews & provides constructive feedback to others
  • If working on the final user interface, defines final layout, font, colors, padding/spacing rules that align with the necessary (Optum, UHC or commercial client) brand. Sources images, icons or videos needed to design and complete the work
  • When presenting, clearly articulates the problem being solved, how the user accesses the experience and how they progress through it
  • Manages timelines, milestones and internal processes on feature work to ensure timely delivery
  • Prioritizes gaining a deep understanding of the client design patterns, applying them appropriately
  • Supports research initiatives by prepping and building prototypes for user testing
  • Partners with product, engineering, data, and compliance stakeholders to design AI-enabled experiences that are transparent, explainable, accessible, and aligned with responsible AI, privacy, security, and health care risk considerations
  • Leverage market insights to understand customer needs and identify new opportunities to improve current product offerings
  • Support user research initiatives (interviews, focus groups, surveys, etc)- organizing, planning, and executing to gather data to inform designs and contribute to strategic decision making
  • Nurture client relationships and support business development
  • Develop knowledge in emerging technologies and enhance team operational practices
  • Continuously evaluates emerging AI tools, design accelerators, and workflow improvements, recommending practical ways to integrate them into team operating models without compromising quality, brand standards, accessibility, or trust
  • Translate ambiguous business, user, and technical needs into design recommendations, including situations where AI, automation, or intelligent workflow capabilities may influence the user experience
  • Become an early adopter of industry trend identification
  • Lead projects, develop strategies, and manage change
  • Support sales opportunities and proposal development discussions in partnership with leadership
  • Create user personas, journey maps, and other artifacts to communicate research findings
  • Conduct user interviews, surveys, and usability tests to gather insights on user needs and behaviors

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in digital design, with a solid portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing digital experiences across web and mobile platforms
  • 5+ years of experience successfully delivering user-centered design solutions that meet business objectives
  • 5+ years of experience conceptualizing and creating original design concepts, including wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups
  • 5+ years of experience using design tools such as Adobe XD, Sketch, Figma, or similar software to develop unique and innovative user interfaces
  • 2+ years of experience creating research strategies and designing and executing those plans
  • 1+ years of experience with AI-enabled design, research, content, and productivity tools, with demonstrated ability to apply them to accelerate their work
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience creating prompt libraries, reusable AI workflow patterns, or team enablement materials that help others apply AI tools consistently and effectively
  • Experience or certification in the following mythologies: Design Thinking, Human-centered design, PMP, Six Sigma, Change management, SAFe
  • Experience working with an agile delivery model
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and best practices

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $112,700 - $193,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
