POSITION SUMMARY

Develop, create, and modify Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs for the measurement of complex, multifeatured parts. Analyze production engineering problems or needs and develop software solutions, using the CMM. Work within the parameters of the CMM software for PTM's use with the aim of optimizing efficiency in determining part specification conformance. May analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  •  Develop and direct CMM software testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation as it relates to part dimensional verification.
  •  Confer with CMM software manufacturer, engineers, programmers and others to obtain information & program software for the verification of part dimensions.
  •  Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.
  •  Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis and inspection.
  •  Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of production or design process within time and cost constraints.
  •  Coordinate software system installation or upgrades and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
  •  Train other users to use the CMM equipment; as may be directed from time to time.

Machine Tools Technology or closely related field of experience and/or study. 

Other Requirements Job Shop manufacturing experience preferred.
