Learning Experience Design Manager information

What is a learning experience design manager?

A Learning Experience Design Manager is a professional who leads teams in creating effective, engaging, and user-centered educational experiences. They oversee the design and implementation of learning programs, often integrating instructional design, technology, and user experience principles. Their responsibilities may include managing learning projects, collaborating with subject matter experts, evaluating learning outcomes, and ensuring that educational content meets organizational goals. This role typically requires expertise in instructional design, project management, and educational technology.

How does a learning experience design manager typically collaborate with subject matter experts and other stakeholders during course development?

A Learning Experience Design Manager works closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), instructional designers, multimedia specialists, and project managers to create effective learning solutions. They facilitate workshops, gather content, and ensure that instructional strategies align with organizational goals and learner needs. Regular meetings and feedback sessions are common to address challenges, refine materials, and maintain project timelines. This collaborative approach ensures that learning experiences are both accurate and engaging, leveraging the expertise of each team member.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a learning experience design manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Learning Experience Design Manager, you need expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and project management, often supported by a relevant degree and experience in education or training. Familiarity with authoring tools (like Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate), learning management systems (LMS), and possibly certifications such as CPLP or ATD are highly valued. Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills help manage teams and effectively partner with stakeholders. These skills ensure the creation of impactful learning solutions that drive organizational performance and learner engagement.

Job description

DescriptionAbout Us
Icario is the largest technology company focused on member engagement for healthcare’s most trusted organizations. Healthcare today is nothing short of amazing. Yet all of it only works when people connect with it. And too often, they don’t. Healthcare can be impersonal. Confusing. All elbows. The record scratch at life’s party. We’re here to help connect healthcare with the people who need it. Which is everyone. How? By listening. Collaborating. And inspiring. We’re pioneering a better way forward. We’re making healthcare more human. We’re excited about the path ahead—are you ready to make the world a healthier place, one person at a time?

About the Role
Does the idea of managing and executing concurrent projects that impact both the experience of clients and employees at a fast-growing, late stage start-up sound like your jam? Are you looking for an organization where your expertise and experience are not only needed, but valued? If so, we’ve got an opportunity with your name written all over it!
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Integrated Experience Group. The Integrated Experience Group is a new team at Icario, which means you will be one of our founding members with an ability to shape our culture, vision, and agenda. We are an interdisciplinary team of designers, analysts, project managers, and experts that leads cross-company initiatives to improve the experience of our healthcare clients, their members, and our own employees. We approach problems and opportunities with a design-thinking and systems-thinking orientation, and we lead with curiosity. In this position, you will report directly to our SVP, Integrated Experience.

Why We Need You
  • Design, implement, and manage ongoing “voice of the customer” initiatives across the organization
  • Plan and manage key strategic initiatives initiated by the Integrated Experience Group
  • Provide clear and consistent communication of projects to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage strategic partners and vendors such as web design firms, print vendors, and creative consultants to execute Integrated Experience initiatives
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Embody Icario’s values

What We'll Love About You
At Icario, we know that unicorns don’t exist, but Rhinos sure do! We’re not looking for the impossible, just the exceptional. If you meet a combination of the listed skills below, we encourage you to apply.
  • Experience managing multiple ongoing projects with internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Exposure to Agile values and principles
  • Listening skills that enable you to hear what people are saying as well as what they’re not saying; you’re able to help them figure out what they need to get organized, stay organized, and keep moving forward
  • Refined communication and collaboration skills that enable you to engage and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization, such as Technical Analysts, Sales Associates, CEOs, and marketing executives
  • You are detail oriented and able to prioritize; you know when it’s important to really sweat the small stuff vs. when it’s more important to launch and then iterate toward a better solution
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, evolving company while embracing change to drive the organization forward despite ambiguity
  • You seek information while also balancing a “just enough” approach when it comes to research and analysis
  • You’ve potentially worked as a Producer or Program Manager of a design, product, or design research team
  • Your entrepreneurial spirit

What You'll Love About Us
  • A multi-award winning office culture
  • 4+ weeks PTO, Summer PTO, and Unlimited Health & Wellness PTO
  • Competitive Medical and Dental insurance
  • Wellness coach committed to helping our employees live their healthiest lifestyle
  • Generous 401k program with company match
  • Optional FSA, HSA, Pet insurance, Disability, Vision, and more
  • Equal paternity and maternity leave
  • Work-life harmony
  • $1,000 employee referral bonus program
  • The list goes on, apply to learn more!
