Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Digital Design Manager to lead the creative execution of digital marketing across our recreational and medical markets for the nation's largest cannabis retailer. This is a highly collaborative leadership role responsible for shaping creative direction, elevating design quality, and ensuring every campaign delivers engaging, on-brand customer experiences across multiple digital channels. 

The ideal candidate is an exceptional visual storyteller with deep experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, or e-commerce marketing. They bring a strategic creative mindset, excel at working within established brand identity systems, and inspire fresh, compelling ways to express each brand's personality while maintaining consistency. This role partners closely with Creative, Marketing, Brand, Digital, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop digital campaigns that strengthen our brands and drive measurable business results. 

In addition to leading creative execution, the Digital Design Manager mentors designers, provides thoughtful creative direction and feedback, and helps establish best practices that elevate the overall quality, consistency, and efficiency of the creative organization. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative direction and execution of digital marketing campaigns, promotional initiatives, product launches, and seasonal retail campaigns. 
  • Establish and maintain a high creative standard across all digital customer touchpoints, including email, web, landing pages, paid media, social media, CRM, and e-commerce. 
  • Provide creative leadership by reviewing work, offering constructive feedback, and mentoring designers to elevate craft, execution, and creative thinking. 
  • Champion established brand identity systems while finding innovative ways to express each brand's unique personality across campaigns and digital experiences. 
  • Ensure visual consistency across all brands while encouraging creative exploration that strengthens brand recognition and customer engagement. 
  • Translate marketing strategies and business objectives into compelling digital concepts and campaign executions. 
  • Collaborate with Creative Leadership, Marketing, Brand, and Digital teams to develop integrated campaign strategies and creative solutions. 
  • Oversee multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while ensuring exceptional creative quality and on-time delivery. 
  • Develop and evolve digital design systems, templates, and reusable creative components that improve consistency and production efficiency. 
  • Maintain a strong understanding of digital marketing trends, emerging technologies, and evolving platform best practices. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve creative workflows, production processes, and team collaboration. 
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across the design team. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5-7 years of professional digital design experience, including at least 5 years in an Art Director, Associate Creative Director, Lead Designer, or equivalent creative leadership role, preferably supporting consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands, with additional experience in retail or e-commerce environments. 
  • Outstanding portfolio demonstrating creative leadership, digital campaign development, promotional marketing, brand storytelling, and omni-channel campaign execution. 
  • Proven ability to lead high-volume promotional campaigns while maintaining exceptional creative quality across multiple brands and channels. 
  • Demonstrated experience building and evolving brand identity systems while developing innovative creative solutions that reinforce each brand's unique voice and personality. 
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing strategy, customer experience, merchandising, and performance-driven creative. 
  • Expert knowledge of typography, layout, visual hierarchy, color, composition, and digital design principles. 
  • Experience mentoring designers, leading creative reviews, and providing thoughtful, actionable feedback. 
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to confidently present creative concepts and rationale. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), and Figma. 
  • Experience developing responsive digital experiences and working within scalable design systems. 
  • Self-motivated leader with excellent creative judgment, strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and a passion for developing people and producing exceptional work. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading creative for promotional retail calendars and high-volume marketing organizations. 
  • Experience supporting multiple brands within a consumer packaged goods (CPG) portfolio. 
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries. 
  • Experience with motion graphics or animation using Adobe After Effects. 
  • Experience leveraging AI-powered creative tools to improve ideation, production efficiency, and creative workflows. 
  • Experience collaborating with copywriters, photographers, UX designers, developers, and marketing partners to deliver integrated digital campaigns.
