Job description

The L&D and HR Generalist plays a vital role in various human resource functions. This person supports human resources by being friendly, welcoming, professional, and engaging positively with everyone. As a proactive self-starter, mentor, and role model, this person exemplifies attention to detail and showcases creative problem-solving skills. Key responsibilities include assisting current team members, leading new-hire orientations, and providing data entry support and reporting. Additionally, they ensure that our conference rooms are well-organized and equipped with all necessary tools for both staff and visitors. This position is vital in fostering a positive and productive environment, and we are excited about the contributions this role will make to our team!
Wage & Benefits: $19.50 per hour

Position Type: Full-Time
  • 40 Hours weekly, generally Mon-Fri. Hours will vary and include nights, weekends, and travel as scheduled

Skills and Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, and preference is given to applicants with college degrees in related fields.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age when starting employment.
  • Must have and show intermediate computer skills and can learn agency applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Well-organized and attentive to detail.
  • Cooperative and willing to learn.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions.
  • Enhanced math skills - must be able to accurately balance a budget and basic math transactions.
  • Professional, clear, and positive oral and written communication skills both expressive and receptive.
  • PCL's Team members must have dependable, reliable, and regular work attendance, and must adhere to attendance policies.

Job Duties:
New Hire Training:
  • Facilitate First Day Training for new team members by:
    • Welcoming new team members and guiding them through their first day of employment.
    • Responding to emergent needs of the classroom.
    • Train classes as scheduled or assigned (training will be provided).
    • Facilitating time meeting supervisors.
    • Ensuring paperwork is completed and collected.
  • Facilitate Orientation for Eugene Team members by:
    • Responding to emergent needs of the classroom.
    • Train classes as scheduled or assigned, including being a certified CPR/First Aid instructor.
    • Facilitate classes as scheduled (training will be provided).
    • Facilitating and/or providing carpooling needs for new hires.
    • Facilitating driving evaluations.
    • Complete all needed documentation in HRIS

Ongoing Training Support:
    • Maintain accurate Certification records.
    • Schedule team members for required training.
    • Complete all required filing in the HRIS.

Recruiting & Hiring Duties:
    • Provide support to the Talent Acquisition Team as needed.
    • Assist with and/or facilitate interviews as assigned.
    • Attend Recruiting Events as needed.

Certifications and Training:
  • Must pass required DHS background check and Protective Service Investigations.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and to be eligible to drive agency vehicles.
  • Complete and maintain all certifications as required by the position, PCL, and other governing agencies.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification to a satisfactory level in Oregon Intervention System (training provided if hired).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in CPR (training provided if hired).
  • Complete all duties related to being a Mandatory Abuse Reporter.
  • New hire orientation and on-site training must be completed within 60 days of hire.
