Job description

Training & Development Specialist – Contract

Location: Maryland/DC Area

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 4 days onsite, Fridays remote

Contract: Approximately 12 months, with potential for extension

Schedule: Full-time

Start: ASAP


We are currently recruiting for a Training & Development Specialist to join a busy Talent Development team on a full-time contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced learning and development professional who enjoys facilitating training, managing programs, partnering with internal teams, and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with internal teams to understand their needs, develop and coordinate learning solutions, facilitate sessions, and ensure programs are successfully executed and evaluated.


Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions, workshops, team effectiveness sessions, and other learning experiences
  • Partner with internal teams and HR stakeholders to understand training needs and develop appropriate solutions
  • Manage training and development projects from initial intake through planning, delivery, evaluation, and reporting
  • Build and prepare presentation materials, facilitator guides, communications, and other training resources
  • Coordinate existing training programs, vendors, schedules, participant communications, and logistics
  • Send invitations, reminders, pre-work, follow-ups, and program updates to participants
  • Track attendance, participation, survey responses, feedback, and training completion
  • Collect and analyze training data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Work with vendors on day-to-day coordination and ensure programs stay on track
  • Support learning and development programs and provide occasional backup support for LMS administration
  • Coordinate surveys and employee listening initiatives, including distribution, tracking, reporting, and follow-up
  • Own multiple projects and programs while managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Support organizational development and employee engagement initiatives as needed
  • Assist with event planning, communications, and other Talent & Culture initiatives


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in Training & Development, Learning & Development, Organizational Effectiveness, HR, corporate training, communications, or program management
  • Strong experience facilitating training, workshops, or team sessions
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage projects and take ownership of programs from beginning to end
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and understand their business and training needs
  • Experience coordinating with external vendors and tracking program participation and results
  • Strong Microsoft Office and collaboration technology skills
  • Comfortable using AI tools in a professional environment
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; Business, Psychology, HR, Communications, Organizational Development, or a related field is a plus


Preferred Experience

  • Training design or instructional design experience
  • Knowledge of ADDIE, SAM, or other instructional design frameworks
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS)
  • Experience with employee listening or survey platforms
  • Familiarity with assessment tools such as DiSC, Predictive Index, Hogan, or Korn Ferry
  • Experience working in a corporate or matrixed environment
  • Experience with Canva or internal communications platforms
