What is learning development enablement?

Learning Development Enablement refers to the strategies, tools, and processes that support and enhance employee learning and professional growth within an organization. It involves designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, as well as providing resources and technologies that empower employees to develop new skills. The goal is to create a culture of continuous learning and improvement that aligns with business objectives. Professionals in this field often collaborate with leadership and subject matter experts to ensure learning initiatives address organizational needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in learning development enablement, and why are they important?

Success in Learning Development Enablement requires expertise in instructional design, adult learning principles, and program management, usually supported by a degree in education or HR and experience in training roles. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning authoring tools like Articulate or Captivate, and certifications such as CPLP or ATD are highly valued. Outstanding communication, collaboration, and adaptability distinguish top performers in this field. These competencies are essential for creating effective learning experiences that drive employee growth and organizational success.

How does a learning development enablement professional typically collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to create effective training programs?

Learning Development Enablement professionals work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders by facilitating meetings, gathering insights on learning objectives, and ensuring content accuracy and relevance. They often act as a bridge between instructional designers, trainers, and business leaders to align training initiatives with organizational goals. Regular collaboration includes feedback sessions, pilot testing of materials, and iterative updates based on stakeholder input. This cross-functional teamwork helps ensure that training programs are engaging, current, and tailored to the needs of both learners and the business.

Job description

The Global Field Readiness team at Asana is building the foundation for how our revenue organization learns, grows, and performs. We are looking for a strategic, detail-oriented leader to own the end-to-end strategy for how frontline sales managers develop their leadership capabilities and how individual contributors chart clear, motivating career paths within Asana's sales organization. This is a high-impact, senior individual contributor role-you won't manage a team, but you will influence hundreds of people across the globe. You'll partner closely with Sales Leadership, HR Business Partners, and Learning & Development to design and deliver programs that are grounded in data, loved by participants, and measurably tied to business outcomes.

This role is based in our Chicago office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.

What you'll achieve

  • Program Ownership: Design and own Asana's global sales manager development program-from new manager onboarding through ongoing leadership coaching and cohort-based learning.

  • Career Architecture: Build and maintain a clear, transparent career framework for all sales roles, including leveling rubrics, competency models, and progression criteria.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Sales Leadership to identify skill gaps, prioritize development needs, and build scalable solutions that work across regions and time zones.

  • Content Innovation: Create and curate content-workshops, e-learning modules, manager guides, and 1:1 toolkits-that drive real behavior change rather than just knowledge transfer.

  • Measurement Strategy: Define leading and lagging indicators for every program you own (from participant satisfaction and skill assessment scores to downstream metrics like promotion rates, manager effectiveness survey results, and rep ramp time).

  • Feedback Loops: Build lightweight feedback mechanisms (pulse surveys, cohort check-ins, stakeholder interviews) and partner with People Analytics and Sales Operations to connect development program data to business performance data.

  • Community Enablement: Run manager community programs (forums, peer coaching circles, brown bags) that build connection and shared practices across the global sales management community.

  • Strategic Retrospectives: Establish a regular cadence of program reviews and communicate insights to senior leadership transparently, maintaining a living program roadmap that reflects what's working and what's being iterated on.

About you

  • Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.

  • 6+ years of experience in sales enablement, learning & development, talent management, or a related field-with meaningful exposure to sales environments.

  • Demonstrated success designing management development or leadership programs at scale, ideally in a global SaaS or technology company.

  • Strong familiarity with career framework design, competency mapping, and job architecture principles.

  • A systems thinker who can hold the big picture (what does a world-class sales management bench look like?) while executing the programmatic details.

  • Exceptional facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and alignment with senior revenue stakeholders.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to move from design to live execution quickly, iterating based on real-time feedback and metrics.

  • A data-informed approach with experience working cross-functionally with HR, People Analytics, and senior business leaders.

  • Bonus points: Experience with coaching certification frameworks (ICF, Co-Active, etc.), formal facilitation training, or familiarity with sales methodologies (MEDDPICC, Challenger, SPIN, etc.).

At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you're interested in this role and don't meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.

What we'll offer

Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $194,000 - $220,000. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process.
