Job description

The Granite YMCA is seeking Lead Teachers to join our Early Learning team! This is a key leadership role for someone passionate about early childhood education, curriculum development, and staff mentorship. As a Lead Teacher, you will oversee a classroom, guide staff, and ensure a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum and programming that meets YMCA standards and NH State Licensing requirements
  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children
  • Build positive relationships with children and families; maintain confidentiality
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments to adapt curriculum to children’s needs and provide bi-annual reports to families
  • Lead daily classroom activities, including setup, snack/meals, and cleanup
  • Supervise, mentor, and guide classroom staff, including Assistant and Associate Teachers
  • Communicate expectations, share weekly classroom plans, and provide timely feedback
  • Model professional behavior and set the standard for staff performance and expectations
  • Collaborate on curriculum planning, space organization, schedules, and supply needs
  • Contribute to a positive, flexible, and collaborative team culture

Qualifications:

  • Must meet State of New Hampshire licensing requirements for Lead Teacher
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain)
