Job description

Come work in a group of Reno/Sparks child care centers that support not only the children in our care but our staff, whether they are seeking a career with us or elsewhere.

As a Toddler/Preschool Coach, youโ€™ll be part of a team supporting new teachers with lesson planning, classroom management, and quality of instruction for children aged 6 weeks to five years. You will have the opportunity to focus on the positive and on education by:

  • providing ideas for, and feedback and coaching on, engaging lessons and centers for classroom teachers,
  • guiding implementation of Conscious Discipline philosophy,
  • supporting quality by tracking and assessing QRIS, including ITERS and ETERS,
  • and reviewing teacher lessons and curriculum implementationย weekly.

Youโ€™ll get support from a full and engaged admin team, including directors that donโ€™t hesitate to roll up their sleeves and change a diaper or to address incidents and behavior with parents.

We will need some qualifications from you, including:

  • A high school diploma or GED,
  • one year of experience working in a professional Early Childhood setting, ideally with at-risk children or children of trauma,
  • and either a Toddler or Pre-K Child Development Associate (CDA), or ability and willingness to obtain one within six months of hire.

In exchange, our centers offer extensive benefits:

  • We offer all full time employees 100% employer-paid medical, vision, and dental plans. All full time employees also receive complimentary Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Life Insurance coverage.
  • When we say we nurture great connections and build great futures, we donโ€™t just mean for the students; as a member of our ELC team, youโ€™ll strengthen your future as well through annual tuition reimbursement, the TEACH program, assistance with getting a CDA, and a 7% pension plan.
  • Salary starts at $36,500/year.

These are some of the additional things you will do as a lesson coordinator with our early learning centers:

  • Perform demonstrations of quality instruction.
  • Conduct observations of classroom teachers.
  • Update staff professional development files.
  • Track developmental screenings and provide support with completion.
  • Maintain the safety of our children and staff, and ensure an optimal experience for all.

This is what your day could look like as a lesson coordinator with our early learning centers:

  • This role is a full time role, and while it is salaried, it requires you to be on-site from 7am to 4pm and in the classroom working with or observing staff the majority of your time.
  • You will potentially be supporting five locations throughout Reno/Sparks but will be housed out of our location at 1200 El Rancho Drive.
  • Our students range from 6 weeks to 5 years and are generally grouped into six age-based classes; lesson coordinators are expected, however, to be able to guide quality instruction for all age groups.

We have great teachers that can teach you skills on the job, but there are some actions and goals that will make you more successful as an early child care teacher.

  • You know that child care settings have more to do than educate, so you greet each child by name and take an interest in their families and lives.
  • You want to do more than just work; you want a role that gives back and supports the community.
  • You believe that uniqueness should be celebrated and support including all persons, regardless of background or beliefs.
  • You respect your team and communicate when you are experiencing difficulty meeting responsibilities.
  • Experience with MS Word and Brightwheel are also preferred.

As part of our commitment to child and member safety, there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete.

  • You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional references, but references from non-family members over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism can be substituted in the absence of work experience.
  • You will also be asked to complete a drug screen (which does not include THC), background check, and fingerprint check.

We have a commitment to being great.

At our Reno/Sparks Early Learning Centers, youโ€™ll have the opportunity to lead a great life, inspired by GREAT values: Generosity, Respect, Encouragement, Accountability, and Trustworthiness. The Early Learning Centers are committed to practicing those values to create places where every child feels safe and connectedโ€”a place to belong and a place to becomeโ€”and a fun, positive work environment where you can be sure youโ€™re making a difference.
