Do you have some education in Early Childhood Education/Development? Do you have experience with infants and/or toddlers? Are you looking to use your skills to help children and families? Then the Early Head Start Assistant Teacher position is for you! Come to work for one of Oregon's 100 Best Non-Profits where all your insurance premiums are 100% paid, even during furlough periods and you'll never have to work another weekend!
Location: Redmond, Bend, Prineville
Compensation: $25.82/hour (plus .50 for Bilingual Spanish) - Union represented
Hours: 40 hours/week depending on location, subject to normal school year furloughs
Benefits: 100% premium paid Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, Agency paid Retirement plan (up to 6%!), almost 2 weeks of paid vacation accrued within first year, plus 14 paid Holidays annually and a separate sick leave accrual.

NeighborImpact's Early Head Start program provides comprehensive early childhood education and family support services to families with children from birth to age three, as well as pregnant women. Early Head Start aims to foster school readiness and social competence, ensuring children and families receive the necessary resources and support during the critical early years.
Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:
This role involves working closely with the Early Head Start teaching team to enhance students' learning and development. It includes creating a safe, engaging, and dynamic educational setting, under the guidance and direction of the EHS Teacher Advocate. This role will take charge of the classroom during the Teacher's absence and will assist in designing and conducting a range of group activities daily. This position will also observe and record child progress and assist with required program documentation.

Required:
  • Educational requirements:
  1. Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, (or equivalent coursework) in early childhood development; with a focus on infant and toddler development.
  2. Associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood development or equivalent, with a focus on infant and toddler development.
  • Diploma and transcripts or certificates are required to validate education requirements
  • Competency with Microsoft applications required
  • Frequent kneeling, stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor to attend to children's needs required. This position is rated as active and occasionally requires the individual to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to ride a school bus with children for assigned periods of time
  • Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider)so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
  • Required prior to date of hire and throughout employment:
  1. Proof of current auto insurance. Must provide current liability insurance
  2. Food Handler's Card
  3. Current enrollment in the OR Child Care Division-Criminal History Registry (CBR)
  4. Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification
  5. Access to reliable transportation
  • Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed

Preferred:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • 6 months experience in an infant/toddler setting preferred
  • Head Start parent or past parent preferred
