We are currently seeking a compassionate and adaptable Early Childhood Education (ECE) Substitute Teacher to join our team in North Carolina. In this role, you will step into classrooms as needed, ensuring a high-quality educational experience for young children while supporting teaching staff in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 0–5.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Classroom Coverage: Step into classrooms as needed to support teaching staff in providing developmentally appropriate care and education for young children.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Assist with the delivery of play-based, developmentally appropriate activities and lessons that promote children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Child Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times by maintaining a structured and positive classroom environment.
  • Engagement and Interaction: Actively engage with children, fostering meaningful relationships and encouraging exploration, curiosity, and learning.
  • Classroom Management: Help maintain a respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere. Assist in managing classroom behavior in a positive and constructive way.
  • Family Communication: Communicate with parents and caregivers as needed, providing updates on the children’s activities and any important information during your time in the classroom.
  • Compliance: Ensure all classroom activities and interactions comply with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and Learning Jungle policies.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of at least one course in early childhood education or child development, such as the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC), is preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with young children, preferably in a licensed early learning setting.
  • Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Health Requirements: Must pass a tuberculosis (TB) screening and provide documentation of a health examination prior to employment.
  • Background Check: Must undergo and pass a criminal background check as required by North Carolina regulations.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Training: Completion of required health and safety training within the first 90 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Completion of the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC) or equivalent coursework in early childhood education.
  • Experience: Experience in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with children, parents, and team members.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to different classroom environments and teaching styles as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of walking, standing, bending, squatting and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Able to move quickly to respond to children's needs and to ensure child safety.
