ITA is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join the team at ITA's Headquarters in Newport News, VA.  This is a hybrid position.  


The human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR and Talent Management leaders in supporting employees in various geographic regions and overseas. This position carries out a wide range of HR responsibilities, but specializes in the following functional areas: benefits administration, training, on-boarding, employment law compliance and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and senior management. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating independently, solving complex problems, and seeking assistance and development when needed.

  • Coordinate daily benefits processing to include insurance enrollments, COBRA notification, terminations, changes, and 401k plan administration transactions.
  • Support payroll processing (ADP and Deltek Costpoint), including; updates to employee files, time cards, bonus/incentive pay, tracking vacation/sick pay, and benefit changes
  • Provide benefit vendor invoice reconciliation and coordination with Accounts Payable, supporting resolution of complex escalated issues.
  • Administer leave management procedures, coordinating documentation and compliance with FMLA, USERRA, sick pay policies and state-specific leave requirements.
  • Provide an effective and dedicated HR advisory service to employees in relation to absence and health issues, compensation, conduct and capability, and other employee-relations matters
  • Maintain employee benefit and personnel files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to the development of policies
  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and employees regarding performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist HR team with employee onboarding, to include training & development
  • Assist in the communication, design, and distribution of annual open enrollment materials for employees
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations (e.g., EEOC, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, and DOL regulations) as they pertain to government contracting and labor laws.
  • Complete special projects in preparing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends for HR metrics and EEO reporting; conducting research if needed
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in the HR field
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed
  • Experience with HR and payroll administration practices
  • Experience with benefit administration
  • Possesses superb written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship building, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-5 yearsโ€™ experience with ADP
  • Experience in Deltek Costpoint
  • Previous experience working for a Government Contractor
  • 2-5 years of experience in benefit administration, to include invoice reconciliation and vendor relationship

Pay range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 annually.

This position has a broad compensation range due to the complexities of government contracting, including contract pricing, labor category requirements, funding parameters, and varying levels of candidate experience and qualifications.
