Job description

The learning and development specialist delivers overall employee development opportunities in support of workforce planning efforts. This professional will provide support to management teams and will partner with managers to implement development opportunities focused on increasing employee performance and capabilities.    

BHE Pipeline Group consists of Berkshire Hathaway Energy's interstate natural gas pipeline companies, BHE GT&S, Kern River Gas Transmission Company and Northern Natural Gas Company. Combined, BHE Pipeline Group operates approximately 21,200 miles of pipeline with a design capacity of approximately 21.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, owns assets in 27 states and is an industry leader in natural gas transportation. BHE Pipeline Group also operates 22 natural gas storage facilities with a total working gas capacity of 515.6 billion cubic feet and a liquefied natural gas export, import and storage facility.Northern Natural Gas is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Bachelor's degree in organization development, adult learning, human resources, education or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) 

Learning & Development Specialist - Three years of experience in curriculum and instructional design.

Sr Learning & Development Specialist - Five years of experience in curriculum and instructional design. 

Demonstrate proficiency with MS Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 

Knowledge of web-based applications, on-line learning and performance management systems.

Preference given to candidates who have expertise in developing and implementing leadership development, team-building and conflict resolution programs. 

Preference given to candidates who hold Gallup CliftonStrengths certification and have experience designing and facilitating strengths-based workshops to support leadership development, team effectiveness and employee engagement.

Effective oral and written communication skills. 

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. 

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. 

Travel to offices across BHE Pipeline Group to facilitate in-person training; travel may be required up to 25%.

Responsible for assessing, designing, implementing, delivering and evaluating employee and leadership development programs. 

Research and analyze training information and materials to determine content, target audience and learning objectives. Maintain, update and enhance current online resources. Research, design and author training resources, including learning assessment and simulations in addition to online and classroom training courses. 

Design, develop and facilitate in-person and virtual training workshops for leaders and individual contributors on a variety of topics. Design, develop and implement e-learning solutions using applicable systems. Work with training participants to ensure successful implementation and solicit feedback for improvement opportunities. 

Provide advice and counsel to areas throughout the organization to clarify and diagnose training-related issues and problems. Act as an internal consultant with managers regarding training. 

Work with other team members to assess needs and ways to implement a blended learning environment. Evaluate training initiatives and assess applicability and effectiveness of e-learning solutions. Work with a team to design, develop and implement company-wide and business specific curriculums. 

Coordinates development strategies and processes including mentoring (informal and formal), leadership development, career development, etc. Strategize with managers and supervisors to implement development initiatives in response to changing internal and external conditions.

Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
