Expression of Interest - Business Development Manager

Serko Ltd

Seattle, WA • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 14 days ago

Job description

Serko is a cutting-edge tech platform in global business travel & expense technology. When you join Serko, you become part of a team of passionate travellers and technologists bringing people together, using the world’s leading business travel marketplace. We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer, we embrace the richness of diversity, showing up authentically to create a positive impact.

Requirements

Make an impact

Serko is redefining how the world travels for business, and our partner program is one of the fastest-growing engines behind that mission in the US. We are targeting captive-audience verticals where an intermediary books significant travel volume on behalf of others. Think claims adjusters coordinating hotel stays for displaced policyholders, or staffing agencies managing lodging for a mobile workforce. It's high-volume, long-duration, high-frequency stays.

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to own this motion end-to-end: find the right partners, prove the value and close. This role reports to VP Revenue, and works closely with Product Management, Customer Success and FP&A to keep the focus on customer conversion and deal advancement.

What you'll get to do
  • Hunt where it counts: Proactively identify and secure new partners across our three core verticals: Displacement/Claims/Institutional Travel, Workforce Deployment & Staffing, and Project-based & Field Operations.
  • Own the full cycle: Run deals from Discovery through Business Case to Closed-Won, building the case for why routing travel through Booking.com for Business beats the status quo.
  • Build the business case: Get comfortable with numbers, sizing a partner's travel spend, translating booking volume into revenue projections, and showing prospects the ROI of consolidating their lodging program.
  • Be the trusted advisor: Work directly with decision-makers at insurers, staffing firms, and program administrators, often people who've never thought about travel booking as a lever, and need you to show them why it is.
  • Help build the playbook: This function is still being proven at scale. You'll help sharpen what works, not just execute a fixed script.
What you'll bring
  • An Account Executive track record in BD or partnership sales: ideally in SaaS, travel, insurance services, staffing, or another vertical where you sold to an intermediary rather than an end consumer.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and numbers: You can build a credible business case from partial data, and you don't wait for a perfect script before picking up the phone.
  • Consultative selling skills: You can walk a claims manager or staffing exec through why this matters to their business, not just pitch features.
  • A collaborative mindset: You will be joining a small, close-knit team right now. You will work alongside peers and supporting functions to refine the motion as we scale it.
  • Strong network and experience selling into core verticals: Displacement/Claims/Institutional Travel, Workforce Deployment & Staffing, and Project-Based & Field Operations.

Benefits

At Serko we aim to create a place where people can come and do their best work. Offering competitive benefits that support you as an individual.

Some of the benefits we offer at Serko are:

  • A competitive base salary and discretionary incentive plan based on individual and company performance
  • Focus on development: Access to a learning & development platform, committed budget and opportunity for you to own your own career pathways.
