Position Description
Base pay is influenced by several factors including a candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, and anticipated contributions to meet the needs of the business, along with internal pay equity and external market driven rates. The salary range displayed has not been adjusted for geographical location. Leads architecture for a specific business domain (e.g., Claims, Enrollment & Billing, Provider, UM/PA). Guides Agile PODs to deliver secure, scalable solutions aligned to enterprise principles, HIPAA, and payer standards (EDI X12, FHIR). Drives application rationalization and adoption of reference patterns in Azure.
**This position may be filled at the Enterprise Architect or Principal Enterprise Architect level, depending on the candidate's education, experience, and demonstrated expertise. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications.**
Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Translate business capabilities into target state, transition architectures, and architecture runway (epics, NFRs).
  • Produce solution blueprints (context/logical/data/integration diagrams) and support threat modeling, privacy, and resilience.
  • Apply API-first and event-driven patterns (Azure API Management, Kafka), integrate with core platforms (e.g., Facets, TruCare, Salesforce, EHR interfaces).
  • Support application rationalization using APM tools (e.g., LeanIX, Ardooq); document TCO, redundancy, and disposition (tolerate, invest, migrate, retire).
  • Ensure designs meet privacy & security (HIPAA, least privilege, tokenization, encryption), resilience, observability, and cost objectives.
  • Contribute to architecture governance (ARB), standards (naming, versioning, FHIR profiles), and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Promote AI literacy-adopt approved patterns (prompt management, RAG, PHI redaction, human review) with Responsible AI controls
  • Partner with stakeholders to improve flow and reduce rework in sprints/PI planning.

Skills:
  • Tools: Jira/Confluence, Visio/Lucid, ServiceNow APM/CMDB (or LeanIX).
  • Strong with Azure (App Services, Functions, AKS, API Management, Event Grid), Kafka, REST/FHIR/GraphQL/SOAP; SQL Server/Oracle.

Knowledge:
  • Healthcare payer experience in at least one domain; familiarity with Facets or similar core admin systems.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, EDI (270/271, 278, 835/837), CMS interoperability.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF/ArchiMate preferred.

Experience:
  • 5-10 years in IT; 2-5+ in solution/enterprise architecture.

Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Appropriate field. Master's preferred

Work Environment:
