Job description

A Value Stream Manager directly manages the factory employees in the value stream, and optimizes the entire value stream process, ensuring efficient flow of materials, information, and activities from concept to customer while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Essential Job Elements
  • Manage End-to-End Value Stream: Oversee the employees and entire sequence of activities that deliver products or services, from raw materials through production and delivery to customers.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean principles, value stream mapping, and process optimization to identify and eliminate waste and improve flow.
  • Drive Operational Goals: Achieve key performance indicators related to quality, delivery, scrap reduction, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with production, engineering, supply chain, quality, Program Management and maintenance teams to align efforts and resolve issues that impact the value stream.
  • Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation and ensure facility and process readiness.
  • Employee Development and Leadership: Mentor, coach, and manage direct reports and team members to build a high-performing, engaged workforce.
  • Communicate and Report: Use visual management tools, daily performance metrics, and value stream boards to communicate progress, identify root causes of problems, and ensure accountability.
  • Facilitate Kaizen and Lean Events: Lead continuous improvement workshops, rapid problem-solving sessions, and sustainable Lean activities across shifts and teams.
  • Ensure Compliance and Safety: Promote adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies to create a secure work environment.

Job Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Abilities
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for leading individuals, influencing cross-functional partners, and fostering collaboration.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with EMS production processes, equipment (e.g., SMT Equipment), MES systems, and quality standards such as ISO.
  • Project Management: Skill in planning, coordinating, and executing initiatives aligned with strategic goals.

Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field is commonly required; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Experience: Typically 3 to 5+ years in manufacturing, operations, or supply chain environments with supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Lean and Six Sigma Expertise: Proficiency in Lean principles, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify inefficiencies, and implement effective solutions.
