Eaton's Electrical division is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team in Raleigh, NC. Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days home). Relocation assistance available within the US.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $105,000 - $154,000 a year.

The Lead Sustaining Systems Engineer provides advanced engineering support for released critical power and power conversion products and their accessories throughout their lifecycle. This role applies independent technical judgment to complex sustaining issues involving product reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, configuration control, and engineering change implementation. The position operates as a senior individual contributor and interfaces with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, service, and product management teams to support continued product performance and availability.
What you'll do:
  • Provide sustaining engineering support for released electrical and electromechanical power conversion products and their accessories.
  • Independently analyze complex technical issues related to product performance, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability and quality.
  • Evaluate, document, and support implementation of engineering changes for released products.
  • Review and maintain advanced engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Support component obsolescence management, including technical evaluation of replacement components or design alternatives.
  • Support product VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) activities, including cost-reduction initiatives, component alternates, and design-for-manufacture improvements while maintaining performance and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams for manufacturing, supply chain, quality and service-related initiatives.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities for complex field or factory issues.
  • Support product requalification or validation activities resulting from design or component changes.
  • Document technical analyses and recommendations within internal issue tracking systems.
  • Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.
  • Familiarity with common tools, equipment (oscilloscope, power analyzers and meters.) and processes to safely work in high power lab (480V) environment.

This role could be the next step in your career if you demonstrate the following experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 5 years work experience supporting electrical or electromechanical products OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum 3 years work experience supporting electrical or electromechanical products

We will not consider candidates who:

Keys to role success:
  • Experience supporting released products in a sustaining, lifecycle, manufacturing support, or reliability engineering role.
  • Demonstrated experience independently evaluating engineering changes and technical tradeoffs for complex systems.
  • Experience reviewing and maintaining engineering documentation such as drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
  • Knowledge of power electronics systems and principles like AC/DC, DC-DC, and DC/AC converters.
  • PCBA/Circuit creation, analysis and troubleshooting to the component level.
  • Proficient in the use of various measurement device including oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and power analyzers.
  • Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance stack-up, Failure Mode and Effect analysis (FMEA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes and experience with issue tracking software such as Jira.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative orientation, the ability to succeed in a highly team oriented, global, and diverse environment.
  • Experience interacting with Global Engineering team.
