Job description

Lead Systems Engineer
Company:

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (Level 4) to join the team in Hazelwood, MO.
The Lead Systems Engineer will lead the system architecture development across program IPTs. This role involves collaborating with the Integrated Product Teams to define and develop the product's system architecture from initial design through product verification, including managing requirements, interfaces, and behaviors. As a member of the Program's Model-Based Systems Engineering Team, they will refine and implement system modeling best practices in coordination with the Lead Model Architect. Additionally, the Lead Systems Engineer will support the development and implementation of open architecture standards.
Position Responsibilities
  • Guide the cross-functional engineering teams in developing one of the Weapon System Segment's Architecture to meet program commitments, including model-based design reviews
  • Lead the cross-functional team to define and maintain the Segment's requirements, interfaces, behaviors, and verification requirements
  • Leverage Systems Engineering and MBSE experience to define, implement, and maintain the MBSE approach to meet the customer's digital engineering requirements
  • Integrate the segment with other Weapon System segments
  • Responsible for the delivery of the integrated segment architecture model
  • Apply interdisciplinary, collaborative approaches to plan, design, develop and verify complex systems solutions
  • Establish, maintain, and demonstrate traceability between tools within the Digital Engineering Environment
  • Guide the team in implementing open architecture standards

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
This position requires ability to obtain Special Program Access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 7+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in MSOSA (Magic Systems of Systems Architecture)
  • Experience in system engineering, including system architecture, requirements and interface development and allocation, verification and validation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Breadth of experience across technical domains and life cycle phases
  • Experience working on proprietary programs
  • Experience with Mission Systems architectures and Open Missions Systems (OMS) and/or Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI)
  • Experience with military aircraft
