Position Description
HVAC Engineer (Mid-Level to Senior Level)
The HVAC Engineer serves as the lead HVAC Engineer on projects from concept through construction administration. Performs design efforts, develops construction documents, and delegates design tasks to junior engineers when possible. Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs as well as working through issues with contractors in the field.
Essential Functions:
  • Drafts HVAC construction drawings including details, plans and sections in accordance with firm standards and guidelines.
  • Performs HVAC load and energy calculations.
  • Designs HVAC systems.
  • Selects HVAC equipment.
  • Develops construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Coordinates all HVAC-related documentation and drawings throughout the project lifecycle to ensure production flow.
  • Recognizes, analyzes, and make timely, critical, and cost-effective decisions.
  • Lead HVAC design efforts and detailed drawings with staff and applicable consultants that meet all code requirements, client commitments and contractual obligations.
  • Administers projects in construction phases including conformance to contract documents and solves problems.
  • Responds to client questions and concerns in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Lead design discussions and carry design concept through to project drawings implementing sustainable strategies.
  • Research and assess building performance and other regulations. Conduct other important engineering research as necessary.
  • Contributes to design discussions and carry design concept through to project drawings.
  • Communicate HVAC design details of the project to client while maintaining a positive and professional rapport.
  • Represent the firm and markets its capabilities.

  • Degree in Mech or HVAC Design Certification Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience working for a consulting engineering firm.
  • Well versed in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office
