Job description

Description: Columbia Technology Partners is seeking a Database Engineer 3 to provide technical expertise in database architecture, design, development, implementation, and administration for mission-critical systems. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining database solutions that support complex data storage, retrieval, analysis, and processing requirements while ensuring performance, scalability, security, and reliability. The Database Engineer will work throughout the system lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through testing, deployment, and operational support.Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, implement, and maintain relational and object-oriented database solutions that support mission and business requirements.Install, configure, patch, and administer Oracle Database, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Data Guard environments.Develop database structures and schemas that align with overall system architecture while balancing performance, scalability, security, retention, and distribution requirements.Create and maintain database parser software, database loading software, ad hoc queries, scripts, macros, and automation solutions.Analyze and evaluate database performance, system improvements, optimization opportunities, and maintenance activities.Develop and recommend short- and long-term database administration and design strategies.Build and support complex database solutions utilizing Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), cloud-based storage and retrieval methodologies, and data integration technologies.Translate customer requirements and data needs into effective database architectures and technical solutions.Lead database development efforts and provide technical direction for database design, implementation, and modernization activities.Qualifications: Ten (10) years of experience as a Database Engineer supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity.Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) additional years of Database Engineer experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.Extensive experience installing, configuring, and patching Oracle Database, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and Oracle Data Guard.Strong experience with Linux operating systems, Linux command-line administration, and Bash scripting.DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification compliance required.Desired Skills: Experience supporting MongoDB environments.Experience with cloud-based database storage, retrieval, and management solutions.Experience developing complex database queries, automation scripts, and data transformation processes.Familiarity with enterprise-scale database architecture, performance tuning, and high-availability solutions.Requirements: U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.
