Role:ย AWS Database Engineer
Location: NYC, NY
Duration: 12+ Months
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available database architectures using Amazon Aurora and PostgreSQL.
  • Lead database modernization efforts including migration from legacy systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) to AWS-native services.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects and DevOps teams to integrate database solutions into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code frameworks.
  • Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, and storage configurations for high-throughput workloads.
  • Define and enforce database security, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Support database automation, monitoring, and observability using AWS-native tools (e.g., CloudWatch, DMS, RDS Performance Insights).
  • 8+ years of experience in database engineering with at least 3 years on AWS Aurora and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services including RDS, DMS, IAM, CloudFormation, and Lambda.
  • Proven experience in database greenfield deployment and migration projects, especially from on-prem to AWS cloud.
  • Hands-on expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • AWS Certified Database โ€“ Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect certification.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and multi-region deployments.
  • Exposure to containerized database deployments (e.g., Aurora Serverless, Kubernetes with PostgreSQL).
