These competencies are vital for producing compelling visual concepts that drive the creative direction and success of games, films, or other media projects.

What are Lead Concept Designers?

Lead Concept Designers are senior creative professionals who oversee the visual development of ideas for films, video games, products, or other projects. They guide a team of concept artists, set the artistic direction, and ensure that the visual concepts align with the project's vision and goals. Beyond creating original designs, they collaborate closely with directors, producers, and other departments to refine and realize concepts into cohesive visual assets. Their leadership and experience help maintain a consistent style and quality throughout the project.

How does a Lead Concept Designer typically collaborate with other departments during a project's development?

A Lead Concept Designer works closely with teams such as art, design, and production to ensure that the project's visual direction aligns with its overall goals. They often facilitate brainstorming sessions, provide feedback to junior artists, and translate creative briefs into actionable visual concepts. Regular meetings with other department leads are common to maintain consistency and address any cross-functional challenges. This collaborative approach helps streamline the creative process and ensures that the final product meets the intended vision.

Job description

Our smart cutting machines, design apps, and materials make creativity easy and accessible for everyone. We believe everyone is born creative, and our mission is to put the power of handmade into the hands of all. With a passionate community of Makers around the world, Cricut helps turn inspiration into real, tangible creations—one project at a time.

Let’s make.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Designer, Concept who brings a strong point of view and a passion for idea-driven design. This role is for someone who thrives at the intersection of concept and craft—supporting the development of campaign ideas, product launch narratives, and brand expression by helping translate vision into tangible, scalable creative.
You’ll partner closely with Art Directors and cross-functional teams, functioning as a key supporting role in bringing concepts to life. While Art Directors lead the conceptual direction, you’ll help build, refine, and codify those ideas into clear, executable design systems and assets. You’ll also have opportunities to take ownership of smaller campaigns or clearly defined components of larger initiatives, applying the same level of craft and rigor.

What You’ll Do:

Support Concept Development

• Support the development of campaign and product launch ideas in partnership with Art Directors and Copywriters
• Contribute thoughtful design perspectives and exploratory work that help clarify and evolve creative thinking
• Translate early-stage concepts into visual directions that help define how ideas come to life

Build & Codify Creative Systems

• Partner with Art Directors to translate conceptual ideas into structured, scalable design systems
• Support the development of campaign guidelines, toolkits, and visual frameworks
• Help ensure ideas are not only compelling, but also clear, consistent, and executable across touchpoints

Execute Across Touch points

  • Develop high-quality design work across a range of outputs, including:
    • Product and packaging concepts
    • Campaign visuals and storytelling systems
    • Omni channel product merchandising assets
  • Take concepts from directional to fully realized, production-ready deliverables
  • Maintain a high level of craft, detail, and consistency in all executions

Support Brand Evolution

• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Cricut brand through thoughtful design and attention to detail
• Ensure all work reflects a cohesive, creative, innovative, and elevated brand voice

Collaborate & Deliver

• Work closely with Art Directors, Copywriters, Marketing, and Product teams to bring ideas to life
• Support presentations by visualizing and refining creative directions
• Own execution of smaller campaigns or clearly defined components of larger initiatives
• Incorporate feedback effectively, with a focus on strengthening the work

Qualifications

What You Bring:

• A concept-first mindset—you lead with ideas, not just execution
• A portfolio that shows range across campaigns, brand systems, and high-quality design craft
• 5–8+ years of experience designing fresh, omni channel campaign assets
• Strong instincts in typography, layout, and visual storytelling
• Experience working within—and pushing beyond—brand guidelines
• Comfort designing across touchpoints, including omni channel merchandising
• Curiosity, taste, and a drive to make things better than they’ve been before

Bonus Points:

• Experience in lifestyle, consumer products, or DIY/creative spaces
• Motion or storytelling through animation
• Experience building or contributing to design systems

Additional Information

We’ve Got You Covered

At Cricut, we take care of our people. Enjoy competitive Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, a 401(k) match, generous PTO, tuition reimbursement, and a yearly lifestyle stipend to support your wellness and passions. You’ll also receive exclusive employee discounts—and best of all, you’ll be surrounded by some of the most talented, creative, and curious minds out there.

A Quick Note Before You Apply…

Cricut is in an exciting chapter of transformation. We’re evolving fast—refining our strategy, growing our teams, and raising the bar across everything we do. This is an incredible opportunity for the right kind of person—but it’s not for everyone.

We’re looking for A-players—people who thrive in dynamic environments, turn challenges into momentum, and consistently deliver their best work. If that sounds like you, read on.

Here’s what makes someone a great fit for this role (and for this moment at Cricut):

  • You move with urgency. You don’t wait for perfect clarity to act—you start, learn, and adjust.
  • You set high standards. You take ownership, deliver quality, and hold yourself accountable.
  • You stay focused when things move fast. You prioritize what matters most and tune out the noise.
  • You collaborate like a pro. You elevate others, communicate clearly, and bring a low-ego, high-output energy.
  • You embrace AI as part of your toolkit. From idea exploration to data analysis and creative problem-solving, you leverage AI to accelerate innovation and amplify impact—because technology and creativity go hand-in-hand here.

One More Thing (It’s a Big One)

This role is in-office at least 4-5 days per week. We believe real collaboration, innovation, and culture are built face-to-face. If you’re energized by working alongside smart, kind, creative people—and love those hallway conversations that spark the next great idea—you’ll feel right at home.

If you’re looking for a fully remote role, this may not be the right fit. But if you’re excited by challenge, purpose, and building something better—let’s make something amazing together.

Relocation Statement:

  • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

What to Do Next: Please attach your resume, cover letter and/or include links to your portfolio or other social presence. If you want to show your super powers in other ways – include that information too. You can be sure that Cricut® is an employer who values individuality, equality and diversity, so tell us what you’re all about. If you are a Maker or a DIY enthusiast, whether you think you are a good one or not, we would love to hear about it when you send us your information.
