You will oversee assigned personnel within the Public Works Department, engaging in a variety of routine skilled and semi-skilled tasks that ensure our spaces remain welcoming and sanitary for both visitors and employees. Your responsibilities will encompass general upkeep, custodial services, and essential maintenance duties, all aimed at upholding our commitment to providing a secure environment. In this pivotal position, you will not only contribute to the daily operations but also embody the values of integrity and problem-solving that define our organization.What matters mostTo excel as a Custodian Lead Worker at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, candidates must possess a diverse skill set and practical experience in custodial services. Key responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and overseeing maintenance activities while ensuring that facilities are maintained to the highest standards. A strong understanding of appropriate cleaning materials, tools, and equipment is essential, along with the ability to adapt methods to meet specific job requirements. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for providing clear instructions to assigned personnel and establishing favorable public relations.Supervisory experience is a must, as you'll guide a team in completing various custodian activities, inspections, and work requests. Prior experience in a similar supervisory role will enhance your candidacy for this vital position.Knowledge and skills required for the position are:Duties and Responsibilities:Plan, schedule and implement custodian work activities for the upkeep and maintenance of RSIC facilities and associated maintenance programs.Performs custodian maintenance activities on Colony buildings and facilities as assigned.Assist the Director in establishing goals and performance standards for work activities.Supervises other workers as assigned in completing custodian activities and projects.Determine appropriate materials, supplies and equipment to complete work according to specifications, verbal instructions or established procedures of RSIC.Receives work requests via department procedures for the upkeep and maintenance of RSIC facilities, provides instruction to assigned personnel on procedures to be used; orders equipment and supplies needed via department procedures, reviews work in progress and upon completion. As necessary adapt materials and equipment to meet specific requirements of the job.Work with the Director to provide budgetary information for the custodian work programs.Inspect, monitor and verify custodian work performed by contractors and vendors.Performs various winter maintenance activities as needed: e.g., snow plow, clearing of walks and driveways, etc.Operate vehicles and equipment as necessary. May be required to obtain and maintain a CDL license.Confers with the Director on concerns and requests regarding custodian services.Assist with all tasks required to provide a safe and sanitary environment within all RSIC facilities as needed.Maintains records and prepares all reports as required of the Custodian Lead Worker.Follows all confidentiality rules as required.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from High School or G.E.D. Essential for individual to have background in custodian services.Knowledge of the methods of caring and maintaining facility interiors and modern principles and practices for custodian services.Demonstrated ability to supervise a crew of workers in custodian, ground and facility maintenance activities.Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing. Ability to maintain favorable public relations.Possession of a valid Nevada State driver’s license as required.No physical limitations relative to lifting, stooping, bending, walking, standing, climbing, etc.One-year experience in supervision performing similar duties.Must be willing to work with exposure to chemicals used in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds and noxious fumes related to refuse collection.Ability to perform assigned work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to assist in the training, supervision and evaluation of assigned personnel.Must be self-motivated, energetic, responsible and reliable in the performance of duties.Preference to qualified Indians will be given.Join our team today!If you think this job aligns with your requirements, then submitting an application is simple.
