Location: Baltimore, MD (Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote) Must be flexible for off-hours, weekends, and on-call support if required

Java/J2EE, Spring (Hibernate/JPA), Angular, REST/SOAP Web Services, PostgreSQL/SQL, MongoDB, Corticon Rules Engine, Git/SVN, Agile, SOA & Microservices, Healthcare/HBX systems, n-tier architecture, unit & integration testing, and team leadership experience.
Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Applications Developer (Java) with 10+ years of expertise in designing, developing, and integrating enterprise-level applications. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building and enhancing large-scale healthcare systems, including Health Benefit Exchange (HBX) solutions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java/J2EE, Angular, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Corticon Rules Engine
  • Build and enhance custom integrations, interfaces, and enterprise solutions
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs and application code
  • Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and validation scripts
  • Perform code reviews, debugging, and quality analysis
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams for requirement gathering and testing
  • Lead development efforts and provide input on complex technical decisions
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and PMO standards
  • Support application upgrades, enhancements, and production issues

Required

  • 10+ years of experience in Java-based application development
  • 8+ years with enterprise platforms and technologies:
    • Java/J2EE, Spring, Hibernate, JPA
    • Web Services, REST APIs, SOA, ESB
    • Eclipse IDE, Git/SVN
  • 6+ years working on healthcare systems / ACA / HBX / HHS solutions
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and complex SQL queries
  • Experience with Angular (frontend integration)
  • Hands-on experience with n-tier architecture and design patterns
  • Experience integrating business rules engines
  • 4+ years of team leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies
  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with content management integrations
  • Familiarity with Corticon Rules Engine
  • Experience working with government or public sector projects

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
