Position Summary

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and test cases to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications. This role partners closely with software engineers, product managers, and QA team members to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable automated test frameworks and test suites
  • Write, review, and execute automated tests for web applications, APIs, and backend services
  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure testability, quality, and adherence to best practices
  • Participate in requirements and design reviews to provide input on test coverage and quality risks
  • Identify, document, and track defects, partnering with development teams through resolution
  • Perform root cause analysis for defects and test failures
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated testing execution
  • Execute manual testing as needed to supplement automation efforts
  • Ensure test environments and test data are properly configured and maintained
  • Continuously evaluate and improve testing strategies, tools, and processes

Work Environment

This position performs its duties from our Orange, CA or New Braunfels, TX office. The role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, mobile devices, and related technology.

Physical Requirements

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; frequently required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to type, scroll and use computer equipment. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer and multiple screens; extensive reading; visual inspection of text/data in both print and electronic forms.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours worked are dependent on business needs and workload. General availability during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, is expected. Based on the candidate and/or position, a hybrid work arrangement may be considered; however, a minimum of three (3) or more days per week in the office is required to support executive collaboration, leadership presence, and cross-functional engagement. Some flexibility is allowed. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

There is no major travel requirement for this position. However, infrequent travel may be necessary to visit remote office(s), attend conferences/industry events, etc. Attendance at our corporate Staff Retreat is required. This event is a 2-3-day retreat. Attendance at our annual User Conference as assigned.

Salary Range

The salary range is $95k - $110k annually. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in software testing or development with a focus on test automation
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript) and.Net ecosystem testing framework.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright (preferred), Selenium or Cypress
  • Experience with developing/maintaining automated performance/load test suites
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and QA methodologies
  • Experience with automation of APIs and backend services (REST, GraphQL)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications
