The Perfusion Technician is responsible for handling the heart-lung machines and other perfusion equipment under the guidance of the attending physician or other healthcare staff as required. Performs pre- and post-operative maintenance on perfusion equipment and computes parameters for surgery to facilitate quality patient care.
This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this department. GENERAL DUTIES
Prepares heart-lung machine and any other equipment critical to the specific operation.
Removes and discards disposables according to policies and procedures at the completion of each procedure.
Verifies the functionality of the equipment. Monitors the patient's status to manage the rate of blood circulation, balances the hemodynamics, maintains body temperature, stabilizes blood composition and handles other monitoring devices.
Maintains compliance standards to ensure required and necessary quality controls for perioperative blood management.
Maintains inventory, database entry and coordinates and documents equipment maintenance.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
2 years of related experience required.

Bachelor's Degree in a related field
