Our Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) center at Raytheon has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Software Safety Engineer II to join the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team in Tewksbury, MA.
LCE is dedicated to ensuring that our products are safe, reliable, maintainable, and delivered on time. The LCE team encompasses multiple disciplines that support engineering, program offices, and customers throughout the entire life cycle of our products, from conception to deactivation. Our focus areas include product support disciplines such as reliability, system safety, and supportability.
This role on the LADS System Safety team involves contributing to these key areas by ensuring the safety of software components within the LADS program, thereby upholding the high standards of product safety and reliability that LCE maintains.
What You Will Do:
  • Analyze engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards
  • Work with software development teams to review and analyze embedded software code
  • Collaborate with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through deployment to gain concurrence with software builds
  • Assist with Software and/or Firmware analyses
  • Participate in the execution of the Software System Safety Program
  • Interface with various stakeholders, including customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Assist with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval
  • Assist with software safety technical reviews
  • Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards
  • Collaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and design

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum 2 years of relevant engineering or statistics or data analysis experience
  • Experience with Computer Science, Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
