Job description

Overview
National multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a talented Plumbing Engineer to join their Milwaukee or Minneapolis Office. The office is seeking professionals with expert knowledge of applicable codes and regulations; extensive knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, and procedures; excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with and lead both internal and external clients to solve problems on projects across the country.
The firm has 11 offices all around the world focusing on healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and government projects. Recently, the firm won the prestigious American Architecture Award for Museums and Cultural Building, along with IIDA Healthcare Design Award.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for plumbing design including calculating building loads for all plumbing systems, select equipment, layout piping, create and edit project details, and write and edit project engineering specifications
  • Expected to participate in design review meetings and workshops
  • Resolve a variety of complex design challenges including conflicting owner and project requirements, application of different system types, or challenging field conditions
  • Research design options and document findings for the project team
  • Assure drawings and designs are in accordance with local codes and design standards
  • Coordination with architectural and engineering disciplines as applicable

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineer or related field
  • 7-12 years of experience in architectural or consulting engineering required with emphasis on plumbing design for healthcare, commercial, municipal, institutional or government facilities required
  • Professional Engineer or Certification recognized by a state licensing board
  • Knowledge in HVAC systems and building controls preferred.
  • Revit, BIM, and Microsoft Office skills
