Job description

Scenic Charge/Paint Shop Supervisor

Reports to: Scenic Shop Manager

 

JOB DESCRIPTIONS/DUTIES

Responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Oversees the and manages the day-to-day operations of the HCT Paint Shop & personnel.
  •  Ensure that scenic elements are given artistic treatment in accordance with design specifications.
  • Assist in creating and managing paint timelines and budget estimates in conjunction with production schedules, scenic shop teams, assignments, and shop space requirements.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the build staff specializing in scenic artistry.
  • Ensures that all Paint Shop tools and paint inventory are in good working order.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the Shop Manager in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Assist other shop departments as needed, including other Production Departments with Load In/Out.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment at all times by adhering to Hale Centre Theatre policies and procedures. 
  • Maintain a safe & clean work environment.
 

 QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • An ability to lead a team.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an advanced working knowledge of scenic painting techniques, and application methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of Texturing techniques.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Must be competent in reading detailed paint elevation drawings.
  • Must be able to work weekdays and occasional weekends.
  • Must be capable of working independently. 
  • Experience with scissor lifts.
  • Experience with basic projection technology for paint layout.
  • Experience with Vectorworks is preferred.
  • Possess a strong desire to hone existing skills and a willingness to learn new ones. 
  • Be highly resourceful and possess efficient problem solving and time management skills. 
  • Successful candidates are required to pass a background and drug screening prior to beginning work.
