When not teaching, your duties and responsibilities vary greatly. In other areas, you may continue to practice law, file amicus briefs, run legal aid clinics, or write books related to your area of expertise.

What does a law professor do?

A law professor is an academic who teaches courses in law at a college or university. They prepare and deliver lectures, guide class discussions, and evaluate student work. Many also advise students, participate in faculty committees, and stay engaged with the legal community through conferences and public service.
