Position: Education and Outreach Specialist

Location: Aliso Viejo, CA - onsite

Schedule: 40 hours per week (including an evening a week and one Saturday a month)

Are you passionate about empowering youth, educating communities, and being a voice for change? Join our Prevention & Education team as an Education & Outreach Specialist! In this high-impact role, you'll lead and support critical outreach initiatives that connect underserved populations with our services. You'll also play a central role in delivering our H.E.A.R.T. (Healthy Attitudes and Relationships Today) program and coordinating our 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate training.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Execute and enhance strategic outreach plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Cultivate relationships with schools, community groups, and service providers.
  • Representing Laura's House at outreach events, networking functions, and professional meetings.

Youth Empowerment & Prevention Education

  • Facilitate interactive, impactful workshops for youth and adults using the H.E.A.R.T. curriculum.
  • Promote healthy relationships and violence prevention strategies in school and community settings.

Training & Volunteer Coordination

  • Lead coordination of our 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate training, collaborating with guest speakers and internal staff.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and administration of volunteers and interns.

Program Development & Administration

  • Assist in developing, evaluating, and enhancing prevention programs.
  • Collect, manage, and report data for grant and contract requirements.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Education, Public Health, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in public speaking, youth programming, or training is required.
  • Completion of 40-hour Domestic Violence Training (can be completed upon hire).

Skills & Attributes:

  • Confident public speaker and skilled facilitator.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident and enjoy Public Speaking and Engagement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel).
  • Compassionate, collaborative, and mission driven.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.
  • Required to stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; communicate clearly both audibly and written. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
