Job description

SUMMARY
The Linen Porter is responsible for ensuring the timely delivery and collection of clean and soiled linens throughout the Resort property. This position will not only be transporting linens to various resort property locations but will also maintain accurate inventory counts and assist in the organization of the linen storage areas to meet operational needs. This position works closely with departments like Housekeeping, Health Club, Spa, etc. to ensure they have the necessary towels, linens, and other items as needed to support their daily operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Securely load clean linens onto the truck and unload both clean and soiled linens at resort property locations and the laundry facility
  • Accurately maintain delivery logs, inventory counts, and process any necessary paperwork
  • Assist with inventory management at department locations, ensuring correct items are delivered and stocked
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensure cleanliness of the truck is maintained; report issues, malfunctions or damage to the truck timely to the Laundry Manager
  • Maintain gasoline levels, record number of gallons when filled and odometer reading on the daily log
  • Alert the Laundry Manager if there is a problem with picking up or delivering items
  • Assist with the sorting of soiled linen, loading and unloading washers & dryers, ironing, etc; assist in any area of laundry as business demands require
  • Monitor the quality of laundered items and report any misuse of linen/terry to the Laundry Manager
  • Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and work areas
  • Maintain excellent service oriented relationships when working with internal and external customers
  • Ensure personal accountability for all work duties, assignments, and performance expectations
  • Provide and receive feedback in a positive manner; earn respect by consistently displaying a positive attitude and working cooperatively with others
  • Ensure work is completed in a safe manner, conscious of standard operating procedures, and use of personal protective equipment
  • Adhere to uniform and personal appearance standards set forth by the Employee Handbook
  • Exemplify and model the GTRS Core Values
  • Adhere to and ensure employee accountability for GTRS policies, procedures, and standards
  • Follow all driver and vehicle rules of the road, operator requirements, traffic laws, and safe driving practices

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
  • 21 years of age or older with a valid Michigan chauffeur's license with a good driving record and insurable through GTRS insurance policy

  • Ability to work in an environment where elevated temperatures (85-100 degrees) and humidity are common, especially during the summer months
  • Physical stamina for operating liftgates and hand pumps
  • Ability to walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to comprehend and follow directions, schedules, routes, and procedures
  • Ability to see objects at close and far range, maintain eye contact, and engage with internal and external guests in a courteous and professional manner
