Job description

Overhead Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager to lead high-voltage transmission projects across the U.S. This role is heavily focused on structural design and technical leadership, with responsibility for quality, budget, schedule, and team performance.

What You’ll Bring

  • 8–12+ years of transmission line design experience at 69kV and above (500kV+ strongly preferred for extra-high voltage projects)
  • PLS-CADD proficiency is required (ability to mentor and train others is a plus)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred (Electrical or Mechanical backgrounds considered)
  • P.E. license strongly preferred
  • Deep experience in structural design (approximately 90% focus): foundations, framing, material selection, and loading analysis
  • Experience with steel, wood, laminate, and composite structures; lattice tower design is a plus
  • EPC and/or design services background supporting U.S. investor-owned utilities preferred

The Role

You will serve as the responsible engineer leading complex overhead transmission projects, managing multi-disciplinary teams and overseeing the full design lifecycle. This includes coordination across procurement, permitting, real estate/land acquisition, subcontract administration, and construction support.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead multi-discipline engineering teams and mentor junior staff

  • Serve as engineer of record on larger or multi-project assignments
  • Perform and review complex engineering calculations and deliverables

Client & Business Support

  • Engage directly with clients to understand project drivers and resolve concerns

  • Manage project scope changes in coordination with project leadership

Technical Oversight

  • Provide subject matter expertise in high-voltage overhead line routing and structural loading
  • Guide foundation and structural design decisions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and design guides

Team Management

  • Review engineering work products
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members
  • Participate in hiring and performance management
