Job description

TESTING PURPOSES, NOT A REAL JOB

Balloon Inflater

We're looking for a dedicated Balloon Inflater to join our growing team and help drive celebratory outcomes across our events. In this role, you will inflate, deploy, and optimize balloons at scale to deliver maximum joy to end users, all while maintaining precise pressure control across a variety of inflatable substrates.

Responsibilities:

  • Inflate balloons using both manual and pneumatic methods
  • Maintain consistent output of 2–5 PSI depending on balloon composition (latex tolerates the higher end; mylar requires a gentler touch)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including party planning, event logistics, and clean-up
  • Work with large quantities of latex and mylar to extract meaningful festivity
  • Deploy inflated balloons into production environments (parties, parades, car dealerships)
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in balloon technology
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of scalable balloon arches
  • Monitor balloon performance over time and address deflation incidents proactively
  • Flag any pressure readings approaching the critical 6 PSI failure threshold

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Pneumatics, Respiratory Therapy, or related field
  • Strong hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to consistently blow 2–5 PSI depending on balloon composition
  • Experience with inflation frameworks (helium tanks, hand pumps, or lungs)
  • Solid understanding of knot-tying algorithms
  • Comfort operating at sustained low-pressure output for 6–8 hour shifts
  • Precision calibration skills - no one wants a lopsided balloon
  • Familiarity with high-pressure environments (literally)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills for the classic "why won't this one hold air" scenario
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, festive, occasionally squeaky environment

Nice to have:

  • Experience with balloon animals or other advanced inflatable sculpture
  • Experience scaling to industrial PSI levels (parade floats, stadium arches)
  • Certification in helium-vs-air pressure differentials
  • Background in a relevant domain (birthday parties, grand openings, existential dread)
  • Contributions to open-source balloon-arch designs

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Balloons inflated per hour (target: 40+)
  • Pop-rate tolerance (target: under 3%)
  • PSI accuracy variance (target: ±0.3 PSI from spec)
  • Knot integrity retention rate over 24 hours

We offer competitive compensation, a light-headed work environment, and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge inflatable technology with a passionate team.
