DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
The ideal candidate will support the Non-grain Oriented Electric Steel (NOES) facility's automated laser welders by analyzing, troubleshooting, recommending, and overseeing repairs and improvements of all electro-mechanical systems to meet the business goals of ArcelorMittal Calvert.
The Basics:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with laser welders (solid state laser welders preferable) in industrial environment
  • Understanding of standard mechanical engineering principles and practices, drawings, and fine tolerances
  • Competency or ability to learn PLC programming platforms
  • Competency or ability to learn power distribution systems, motors, drives, sensors, actuator systems, and communication protocols
  • Competency or ability to learn hydraulic, mechanical drive systems, and alignments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of industrial Solid State Laser Welding systems and optics (Miebach is preferred)

The Extras:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of process automation applications
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, power transmission, and complex machine alignments
  • Knowledge of SAP or other CMMS systems
  • Knowledge of IBA, or similar process trending software
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex issues
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Practices

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Maintaining and continuous improvement of the reliability of automated Laser Solid State strip welders and associated equipment
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance of complex electromechanical systems including hydraulics, gearboxes, laser optics, PLC, HMI's, motor drives, and communications
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFAs) for delays within a team environment and execute Corrective Actions (CAs) to mitigate future occurrences
  • Initiating &/or implementing continuous improvement of the equipment reliability by developing and reviewing PM's, improving functional location details and material master data in SAP
  • Conducting maintenance activities utilizing SAP software
  • Training, coaching, and mentoring maintenance technicians and operations team members
  • Developing and Auditing Energy Control Procedures (ECPs) to ensure the safety of team members performing work on mill equipment
  • Travel both local and abroad will be required for training and best practice visits
