Job description

LASER TECHNICIAN  

Job Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time
Pay Rate: $80,000 + 

Schedule: Monday through Friday:  7:00 AM to 3:30 PM 

Requirements: Resume / Interview / Drug Test (10 Panel) / Background Check  


Position Summary

The Laser Technician is responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of laser welding equipment and operations to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production. This role oversees the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of laser welding systems and their supporting equipment, while working closely with production, maintenance, and management teams to maintain the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all laser welding equipment and related operations throughout the production facility.
  • Support production lines utilizing laser welding technology to ensure consistent weld quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose laser equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on laser welding systems and supporting equipment.
  • Install and implement equipment updates and system upgrades.
  • Maintain and monitor all laser support systems, including:
    • Cooling and chilled water systems
    • Exhaust systems
    • Laser supply gas systems
    • Compressed air systems
  • Maintain inventory of laser replacement parts and coordinate procurement of required components.
  • Communicate with outside vendors regarding equipment purchases, repairs, and technical support.
  • Work closely with department managers, setup technicians, operators, and maintenance personnel to maintain optimal laser performance.
  • Assist with training production operators and department managers on proper laser operation and best practices.
  • Support the maintenance team in servicing laser support equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
  • Collaborate with other company divisions on projects, technology improvements, and new product development as directed by the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working with industrial CO2 laser systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of PRC CO2 laser equipment, including both legacy and newer models.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on laser welding equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Required Technical Knowledge

Candidates should have experience with:

  • CO2 laser welding systems
  • Electrical systems and troubleshooting
  • Electronic circuit boards
  • Computer-controlled manufacturing equipment
  • Laser gas delivery systems
  • Chilled water and cooling systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Industrial exhaust and ventilation systems
  • Preventive maintenance programs
  • Parts inventory management

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting manufacturing or metal fabrication environments utilizing laser welding technology.
  • Ability to train operators and production personnel.
  • Experience coordinating with equipment manufacturers and outside service vendors.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on quality, efficiency, and safety.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial machinery.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
  • Must be able to safely work around laser equipment while following all company safety procedures.
