Job description

Company Description
Finn-Kool is a fast-growing, family-owned company looking for determined and reliable people who take pride in their work.
Role
As a Quality Coordinator or QA Inspector at Finn-Kool, you will ensure that all manufactured products meet stringent customer specifications and company standards. This role involves inspecting products and materials throughout the manufacturing process, utilizing advanced tools such as the Keyence Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and managing calibration records through GageTrak software. You will take personal responsibility for ensuring the accurate production of parts, identifying defects, and collaborating with the production team to maintain high-quality output. Success in this role requires self-reliance, exceptional time management, and a commitment to upholding customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
  • Establish and Maintain Quality Standards: Develop and enforce quality standards for all products manufactured by Finn-Kool, ensuring compliance with customer requirements.
  • Interpret Technical Documents: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to verify that production processes align with design requirements.
  • Conduct Precise Measurements: Use precision tools, including micrometer screw gauges, calipers, and the Keyence CMM, to measure parts and verify dimensional accuracy against specifications.
  • Operate Keyence CMM: Program, operate, and maintain the Keyence CMM to perform automated, high-precision measurements of complex parts, ensuring consistent and accurate results.
  • Track Calibrations with GageTrak: Manage and document calibration schedules for all inspection tools and equipment using GageTrak software, ensuring compliance with calibration standards and maintaining accurate records.
  • Inspect Materials and Products: Perform detailed inspections of incoming raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to identify defects or deviations from specifications.
  • Ensure Accurate Part Production: Take personal accountability for verifying that all parts are produced accurately according to customer specifications, rejecting non-conforming items and recommending corrective actions.
  • Recommend Process Improvements: Analyze inspection data and propose adjustments to production processes to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Remove Non-Conforming Products: Identify and remove products that fail to meet standards, collaborating with the production team to implement strategies for quality improvement.
  • Perform Random Inspections: Conduct random sampling inspections to assess ongoing product quality and consistency.
  • Document Inspection Results: Prepare detailed inspection reports and performance records, documenting findings and communicating results to the production team.
  • Reject Substandard Materials: Evaluate incoming raw materials, rejecting those that fail to meet quality expectations and promptly reporting issues to the relevant department.
  • Resolve Quality Issues: Address quality-related challenges in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to production deadlines.
  • Train Quality Assurance Team: Provide training and guidance to quality assurance team members on inspection techniques, tool usage, and quality standards.
  • Develop Inspection Protocols: Design efficient, standardized inspection protocols that can be applied across various manufacturing domains.
  • Guide Production Team: Advise the production team on quality control issues to improve overall product quality.
  • Monitor Customer Satisfaction: Track customer feedback and satisfaction levels to ensure products meet or exceed expectations.
  • Oversee Production Phases: Monitor quality at various stages of the production process to maintain consistency.
  • Perform Additional Duties: Complete other quality-related tasks as assigned by management.

Expectations
The Quality Coordinator is expected to meticulously evaluate products and materials to ensure they meet customer and raw material specifications. This role requires proactively identifying non-conforming products, reporting findings to the production team, and providing actionable insights to inform production strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong sense of ownership over the accuracy of part production, leveraging tools like the Keyence CMM and GageTrak to maintain Finn-Kool's commitment to excellence in quality.
Employment Details/Requirements

  • Familiarity with Gagetrak software, Vision Inspection Systems, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 standards.
