  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, pneumatic, welding, equipment, and process-related issues that cannot be addressed through routine maintenance procedures.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize ultrasonic and laser welding parameters for thin-foil pouch-cell battery applications.
  • Analyze welding defects, equipment downtime, and process variation; conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support product model changeovers by evaluating equipment requirements, adjusting tooling and process parameters, and validating readiness for mass production.
  • Provide on-site support during new plant launches, line ramp-ups, major equipment disruptions, quality incidents, and other critical manufacturing events.
  • Review mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, pneumatic diagrams, equipment layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Recommend and implement equipment modifications and process improvements to improve equipment reliability, product quality, production yield, and cycle time.
  • Coordinate technical activities with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, process engineering, equipment suppliers, contractors, and engineering teams across multiple entities.
  • Document equipment settings, troubleshooting results, corrective actions, lessons learned, and standardized work procedures.
  • Train and mentor locally hired engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel through handsโ€‘on demonstrations, technical instruction, and supervised field practice.
Required Skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of lithium-ion battery packaging equipment installation, commissioning, startup, and production stabilization.

  • Ability to work effectively across multiple sites, corporate entities, cultures, and technical functions.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate or bachelorโ€™s degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, mechatronics, industrial technology, or a related field is preferred but may be substituted with substantial directly relevant experience.
  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience with lithiumโ€‘ion battery packaging equipment, automated manufacturing equipment, or closely related production systems.
  • Demonstrated handsโ€‘on experience with equipment installation, commissioning, production startup, rampโ€‘up, troubleshooting, and stabilization.
  • Demonstrated experience with ultrasonic or laser welding processes used in lithiumโ€‘ion battery or thinโ€‘foil manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations at multiple facilities or international project locations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in technical and operational settings.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout North America.
