Job description

Glenn Metalcraft is searching for a skilled and dedicated Laser Operator II to join our dynamic team and help us continue to deliver exceptional products.

The Laser Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining laser cutting machines to produce precision parts according to specifications. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and a commitment to quality and safety.

1st shift currently operates 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Advanced understanding of various machinery and equipment necessary to produce metal components
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/Tag out
  • Promote “safety first” mindset across production floor and ensure staff are following safety procedures/guidelines
  • Understand and accurately report daily production quantities to meet set number of parts per hour
  • Consistent and accurate counts of materials and products
  • Performs necessary quality checks on product and completes daily communication
  • Ability to perform advanced adjustments and repairs to machines
  • Ability to setup workstation according to safety standards to perform maximum efficiency
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment according to established procedures
  • Ability to recall and input programs
  • Perform complete machine set ups without assistance
  • Maintain a positive attitude with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
  • May assist with running multiple Lasers as needed
  • Ability to load new consumables and troubleshoot
  • Accurately check out tools through tool crib inventory system
  • Ability to qualify first part approval for inspection
  • Assists with performing preventative maintenance as needed
  • Ability to read, write and save setup sheets for various machines
  • Ability to adjust cut conditions for best performance/time
  • Ability to change gases and adjust pressures as needed.
  • Perform small programming edits

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 2 years laser cutting experience and working knowledge of basic troubleshooting
  • Ability to safely perform work in varying work conditions
  • Working knowledge of machinery with previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Effective problem-solving skills/detailed oriented/sense of urgency
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, and Faro Arm
  • Ability to be forklift certified
  • Ability to follow hoist safety protocols
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a consistent basis

  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours

  • Excellent hand/eye coordination

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use power tools

  • Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina

  • Consistently wear personal protective equipment

  • Ability to work in production facility with fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels.
