Job description

PURPOSE

The Service Automation Project Manager will create and develop relationships supportive of the Baker Group Core Focus and Values with team members and internal and external clients. This person will provide opportunities to increase business unit revenues by marketing and cross-selling products and services including but not limited to, commercial automation systems, preventative maintenance agreements, and industrial automation systems/ instrumentation equipment. In addition, this position will manage projects in a manner that compliments all facets of the project from design to owner training.

This role provides sales and field installation support for secured projects, reviews estimates, initiates sales/ops turnovers, documents scope, reviews control submittals, re-estimates, assists with scheduling and revenue forecasting, and prices all change orders to meet client labor rates and markups. This person collaborates with the Automation Business Unit team to support clients on small and large projects. Maintain and grow the “Client for Life” concept for existing and new clients. Performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide and execute solutions for clients via engineering and field teams
  • Continuously cultivate relationships with existing clients and actively seek opportunities that foster long-term client engagement and revenue growth, including cross-selling and cold calling
  • Educate clients on capabilities not only in the building automation business, but also cross selling capabilities for revenue opportunities within other business units
  • Develop solutions for clients using internal estimating software and standard products. Review solutions with internal stakeholders before submitting to ensure delivery feasibility.
  • Act as account manager or single point of contact with clients during project execution
  • Attend scheduling meetings with the Operations Manager and assist with scheduling field labor
  • Participate in both internal and external project meetings, and deliver verbal and written communications regarding information requests, proposal requests, coordination efforts, and submittal reviews
  • Hold turnover meetings with engineering and field teams to discuss project scope, safety, and timelines.
  • Use the procurement format to obtain multiple bids for installation subcontracts
  • Utilize company developed pre-proposal checklists, turnovers, subcontracts, purchase orders, warranty, etc.
  • Oversee projects to ensure their financial success and profitability
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on piping, valving, and instrumentation solutions.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering preferred or minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience
  • Experience with Commercial Automation and Mechanical systems
  • Experience in estimating and managing automation projects

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver license
