Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
To assist the Valve Repair Department in all aspects of testing and repairing relief valves, in the shop or in the field while maintaining a professional attitude.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Dis-Assembly of Valves.
  • Performs sandblasting
  • Cleans valves
  • Inspects valves
  • Properly documents testing, repairing, and information from the nameplates on the relief valve.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer relations abilities.
  • Performs shop maintenance.
  • Performs re-machining or lapping.
  • Travels with mobile unit.
  • Climbs up to 100ft
  • Lifts up to 50 lbs.
  • Wears respirator when required.
  • Greet or meet each customer with a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Accurately completes customer instruction sheet with all information needed; such as, set pressure required, contact name, location, purchase order number, shipping information, and other pertinent information.
  • Performs dis-assembly, sandblasting, cleaning, inspecting, and re-assembly of relief valves.
  • Performs re-machining, or lapping of critical parts.
  • Documents valve repair and testing information accurately on valve repair ticket for shop and field work.
  • Performs shop maintenance; such as, sweeping floors, cleaning counters, test rooms, sandblaster, and organizing tools.
  • Travels to and from customer plant or location.
  • Climbs up and down vessels on location.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ability to completely repair spring loaded relief valves.
  • Must have working knowledge of pilot relief valves.
  • Leadership abilities.
  • Ability to accurately complete all documentation required.
  • Capability of sandblasting, cleaning, inspecting, disassembling, re-machining, and lapping valves.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to physically and medically wear a respirator.
  • Ability to travel up to two weeks per month.
  • Must complete Mercer's Training Program.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License
