Responsibilities

Supervises work unit employees and manages day-to-day operations. Provides leadership and direction to the work group and performs problem solving of immediate operational issues. Oversees the scheduling and assignment of interpreters, timekeeping and performance appraisals and assists with implementing department and institutional policies/procedures and strategic initiatives as directed by the manager. Provides project management oversight for department improvement projects. Coordinates and monitor training and education activities within department. Represents the Mayo Language Department with internal and external groups. Also responsible for the coordination of translation activities at Mayo Clinic. Triages translation requests and provides consultative services to Mayo Clinic Rochester, Arizona, Florida and Mayo Health System regarding translation criteria, costs and options. Supports internal translation resources, quality of service and tracking of requests.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in management, business, education, human resources, communication or international studies/relations is required. Bachelor's degree required -OR- four years of supervisory experience in lieu of degree. Two years of related experience required. Must have both a desire and ability to work well with people of diverse cultures, customs, educational levels, world-views, and possess respect for those differences. The candidate must demonstrate aptitude in effective communication, leadership, problem solving, organizational skills, time management and delegation skills.
