Description
Under direct supervision, the Part-time Maintenance Crew Worker is responsible for maintaining the grounds of county-owned property. This position performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks, operates various equipment, and assists with other duties as assigned to ensure facilities and grounds remain safe, functional, and attractive for public use.
Examples of Duties
  • Mow, trim, and edge lawns using commercial lawn mowers and other groundskeeping equipment.
  • Perform landscaping duties such as planting, mulching, pruning, and leaf removal.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and debris from county properties.
  • Maintain sports fields, walking trails, playgrounds, and other park areas.
  • Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools.
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown for special events as assigned.
  • Perform minor repairs to park facilities and structures.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Setting up, breaking down, and working special events.

Typical Qualifications
  • Ability to operate and maintain commercial lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other related equipment.
  • Knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects weighing 75-100 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently or in a team.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience operating commercial mowing and landscaping equipment preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.

Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions, loud noise, dust, and chemicals. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting, and operating heavy equipment.
