Job description

The Landscape Crew Leader is responsible for leading and supervising a team of maintenance crew members while ensuring high-quality landscape maintenance services. This role requires the safe and efficient operation of landscaping tools and equipment, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to meet or exceed service expectations. The Crew Leader ensures that all tasks are completed according to company standards and customer service goals. 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead, direct, and motivate a team of landscape crew members to perform maintenance tasks effectively and efficiently. 

  • Ensure timely and high-quality completion of property maintenance tasks including mowing, edging, pruning, weeding, and irrigation maintenance. 

  • Enforce and comply with all company safety policies and procedures. 

  • Safely operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, edgers, blowers, trimmers, and other tools. Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment. 

  • Ensure properties meet or exceed client expectations for appearance and quality. Report damaged trees, missing plants, or other issues. 

  • Assist in tracking and managing materials and supplies for maintenance tasks. 

  • Support and train crew members in proper landscaping techniques, safety protocols, and equipment use. 

  • Communicate effectively with clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction with the landscape maintenance services. 

  • Accurately report time worked and equipment issues according to company procedures. 

  • Complete additional tasks assigned by the supervisor or operations manager. 

Required Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma or GED. 

  • Driver’s License Required. 

  • Minimum of 1 year of landscaping experience. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other team members, supervisors and clients. 

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Environmental Conditions: Exposure to adverse weather conditions, dirt, chemicals, and noise while performing landscaping tasks. 

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 75 pounds, and using hands and arms to handle tools and equipment. 

  • Travel: Daily travel from the main office to job sites in a company vehicle.
