Position Summary

Great Lakes Landscape Design is seeking a dependable and hardworking General Crew Member to support both landscape construction and maintenance operations.

This position is responsible for assisting with a variety of tasks including hardscape installation, landscape maintenance, planting, site cleanup, loading and unloading materials, and supporting crews as needed.

The ideal candidate is flexible, team-oriented, enjoys working outdoors, and is willing to learn different aspects of the landscape industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, mulching, pruning, and seasonal cleanups.
  • Assist with landscape construction and hardscape projects including patios, retaining walls, planting, grading, drainage, and material installation.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, materials, and equipment.
  • Move materials such as mulch, stone, gravel, pavers, soil, plants, and tools.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and landscape equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites.
  • Follow instructions from Crew Leaders and Production Managers.
  • Support snow operations during winter months when needed.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or material needs.
  • Follow company quality standards and complete work efficiently.
  • Assist with daily jobsite cleanup and truck organization.
  • Support team members and contribute to a positive work environment.

  • Arrive on time and ready to work each day. Maintain regular attendance and reliability.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Be flexible and willing to support different crews and departments as needed.
  • Follow directions from Crew Leaders and Production Managers.
  • Always represent the company professionally.
  • Be willing to work overtime and Saturdays during peak season.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Be respectful to coworkers, clients, and vendors.
  • Be willing to learn new skills, equipment, and responsibilities.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Previous landscape, construction, maintenance, or labor experience preferred, but not required.
  • Chauffeur driverโ€™s license preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, lift, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic English communication skills preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
